What is Sound Healing?

Have you ever taken a moment to reflect on how we appear to be experiencing higher levels of stress, burnout, fatigue, nervousness, anxiety, depression, and a general sense of disconnection than we ever have before? It seems that these overwhelming feelings have become a common thread in our lives, and I’m sure many of us have felt this way at various points. Unfortunately, it's likely that most people will encounter these emotions again in the future.

One powerful way to care for yourself is by connecting with your body, mind, and spirit through a combined meditation sound bath. You can think of this practice as a much-needed circuit breaker for your racing mind, allowing you to shut down the constant noise and distractions of daily life. It encourages you to be fully present and mindful in the here and now, creating a sense of peace and tranquillity. A meditation sound bath is not only effective for achieving a deep state of relaxation, but it also has the unique ability to help you navigate through emotional blockages that you may be holding onto. This practice can facilitate the release of pent-up emotions, leading to a renewed sense of freedom.

Interestingly, research indicates that as much as 80% of all physical ailments can be traced back to stress and anxiety. With this in mind, Sound Healing has gained recognition for its ability to treat a variety of conditions, including stress, anxiety, high blood pressure, depression, sleep disorders, and more. It is also known to promote clarity, balance, relaxation, improved memory and concentration, better sleep, a stronger immune system, enhanced creativity, and heightened awareness.

Ultimately, engaging in these practices will contribute significantly to your overall well-being and help you feel better in both body and mind.

Check out the below video showing a live blood analysis, which highlights the changes before and after a 20-minute gong soundbath session. The results are nothing short of astonishing, providing compelling evidence of the profound impact sound can have on our bodies, even at a cellular level. This remarkable demonstration showcases how sound therapy can promote healing and well-being in ways you may never have imagined.
Prepare to be amazed by the transformative potential of sound!

What sets our service apart in Adelaide is the unique experience of sound baths performed in floating hammocks. This innovative approach provides a sensation of complete weightlessness, allowing you to sink into a deeper state of relaxation than you might find in a traditional sound bath. When you're suspended above the floor, the healing vibrations can surround your body in a way that enhances the experience, making it truly special and unlike any standard sound bath meditation. This transformative journey not only provides an opportunity to step away from the hustle and bustle of daily life, but it also allows you to savour a moment of tranquillity and reconnect with your higher self, marking the beginning of your healing journey.

Upon your arrival, we will kick off the experience with a personalized one-on-one sound cleansing session aimed at purifying your aura. After you feel settled and grounded, you'll have the chance to set a meaningful intention for your healing journey, making the experience even more personal. Following this, you will be guided into a calm and restful state through gentle deep breathing exercises and spiritual meditation. As you relax, the soothing sounds will wrap around body, gently guiding you along your path of healing. Once the sound bath concludes, you will have the opportunity to openly share your experiences with others, and if you wish, take some time to journal your thoughts and feelings, allowing for deeper reflection.

FAQS

FAQ 1: What is a sound bath?
A sound bath is a meditative experience where you’re immersed in healing sound vibrations from instruments such as gongs, crystal singing bowls, chimes and more. At Tribal Soul Sanctuary, we combine sound with gentle breathwork and guided meditation to support deep relaxation, nervous system soothing, and emotional release.

FAQ 2: What makes your Float Sound Bath different?
Our sessions are held in silk floating hammocks, creating a feeling of weightlessness that helps many people soften faster and drop into a deeper state of rest. Being gently suspended allows the sound to surround you in a unique way, making the experience feel more immersive than a traditional floor-based sound bath.
It’s a truly unique and magical sensation—and one we’re confident you’ll enjoy.

FAQ 3: What should I wear or bring?
Comfort is everything—especially in a hammock. Here’s what we recommend:

  • Wear soft, comfortable clothing with nothing that can catch the fabric, such as zippers, sharp edges, or bulky jewellery.

  • If you have piercings that can’t be removed and may have sharp edges, body tape is provided to help protect the hammock fabric.

  • Warm socks are a must. Some people find their back gets cool, so we recommend bringing a dressing gown or your own throw blanket. We provide one blanket, but you may like an extra one underneath as well as on top to feel extra cosy and supported.

  • Eye masks (weighted and unweighted) are provided, and we also have some available to purchase if you prefer to use your own.

  • You’re welcome to bring your own pillow if that helps you settle more deeply.

  • Please ensure your feet are clean. If they’re not, clean socks must be worn before getting into the hammock.

  • For hygiene purposes, we recommend a t-shirt that covers your underarms, and we ask that you avoid heavy fragranced perfume on the day.

FAQ 4: I’m feeling stressed or anxious—are sound baths suitable for me?
Many people come to sound healing when they’re feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or mentally “switched on.” Our Float Sound Bath is designed to support a gentle downshift of the nervous system through breath, grounding, and soothing sound.
It’s normal to feel emotional, restless, or sensitive at times—especially if you’ve been carrying a lot. You’re always welcome to go at your own pace, and you don’t need to “do it perfectly” to receive the benefits. If you have any concerns, sensitivities, or questions before booking, please reach out so we can support you in choosing the right session.

FAQ 5: What happens during a session (what can I expect)?
When you arrive, you’ll have time to settle into your hammock, ground, and set an intention. You’ll be guided through gentle breathing and meditation, then immersed in a sound journey using sacred instruments and intuitive guidance. At the end, there’s space to return slowly and integrate—sharing and journaling are always optional.

FAQ 6: When should I arrive, and when does the door open?
Our door opens 15 minutes before your session so we can welcome you in, help you settle, and get you comfortable in your hammock. If you arrive earlier than 15 minutes prior, we kindly ask that you wait until that time before entering or knocking.
This window is used by our facilitators to cleanse the space energetically and prepare our own energy so we can provide you with the best possible session. We also take this time to drop into our surroundings and connect with the energy of the day, as we play intuitively—so this preparation is important.

FAQ 7: I’m new to meditation—what if my mind won’t switch off?
That’s completely normal. Meditation isn’t about completely clearing the mind—it’s about focus and gently returning your attention when you notice it has wandered. When you’re new, thoughts, external sounds, and bodily sensations can feel distracting. This improves with practice (that’s why it’s called a meditation practice).
To get the best out of meditation, we recommend starting with 1–2 sessions per week, and more if you’d like to deepen and “strengthen your meditation muscles” as you develop your craft.

FAQ 8: How often should I do sound healing?
If you’re just starting out, 1–2 sessions per week is a beautiful rhythm to help your body learn how to relax more easily and consistently. Some people choose to come more often when they’re intentionally building their meditation practice or moving through a particularly stressful season. The best frequency is the one that feels supportive and sustainable for you.

FAQ 9: Can beginners attend?
Yes—beginners are very welcome. You don’t need any experience with meditation or sound healing to attend. We’ll guide you step-by-step, and you’re invited to simply arrive as you are and receive the experience.

FAQ 10: Is there parking available?
Yes. We have our own dedicated carpark that comfortably fits everyone attending. We’re located at 34 Main North Rd, Smithfield SA 5112 (Adelaide’s northern suburbs).
